Can someone please explain the gist of Inboard/Outboard Control of Light fixtures. I have a general idea but if someone could explain it in more detail that would be appreciated, thanks.

In a four lamp fixture you would have one switch that controls the two "inboard" lamps and a second switch that controls the two "outboard" lamps. Energy codes often require at least two levels of lighting control.
