Don't laugh at me!

I started out using Microstation when it FIRST came out, back in the 80's. Then the company I was working for started using AutoCAD, which I detest.

Now, I've got a chance to move to another company which uses Microstation exclusively. I've trying to convert my thinking BACK to my baby, but when I first opened it up, it looked foreign to me!

I can't figure out how to draw a simple rectangle. :( Another thing I can't figure out is where the command line is so that I can put in the exact dimensions for this rectangle. If someone can PLEASE point me in the right direction, I'm sure that it will all come back to me pronto! This would be Microstation V8XM.

Thank you.

for the keyin or command line under the help pulldown menu is the keyin browser..
to place a polygon in XM if you've still got the default icons placed left and right try key board speed keys U 1
this is the keyboard short cut to the place polygons, place block...
I suggest you go to the help, contents, whats new
and read or print out each section this is basically the same as the coarse contents of XM familiarisation for V8 users...

Thank you SO much for your help. The more I'm using it, the more that is coming back to me. I need to be up to my old level of expertise by the end of the month.

Accudraw, Accudraw, Accudraw. This is the tool that will make all of your problems disappear. If you do a lot of 3-D you can rotate and set planes....etc. Rectangle: Click on the draw polygon or place block commands in the polygons menu. Set your point of origin type in your X and your Y and you are done.
