Delrin to my knowledge is not weldable. It is a wood like material non-metalic.

Delrin is not wood like. It's plastic. Exposure to ultra-violet is not that recommended because it breaks down after some time. There's a table in RS components catalogue that provides some rough comparisons between plastics (<A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> it our if you can get a copy. Try looking up Torlon and Vespel too.

Delrin is weldable by certain methods and only with certain grades of Delrin. Consider using Ultrasonic welding, hot plate welding and chemical bonding. Go to Duponts website (<A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> and ask for technical help or go to Branson Ultrasonics website. They specialize in ultrasonic and hotplate welding (<A HREF=" TARGET="_new">

A word of warning on Delrin. It is very sensitive to high concentrations of Ozone, this actually erodes the material and breaks it down. This was identified by a friend who used it in a special nozzle and spent months wondering how the liner did a disappearing act. He suspected sabotage untril he noticed the erosion and further testing proved that it actually completely disolved during use.
