I am interested in obtaining a copy of research done by Ploessel and Slosson (1974) regarding the level of seismic response actually felt by a structure as compared to the peak ground acceleration. Does anyone know where I can obtain a copy?

I am working with someone who is interpreting this research as saying that the design acceleration for short buildings is simply 2/3 of the peak ground acceleration at the site. Is anyone familiar with this work?

dear friend

regarding the design spectra introduced by codes of practice (ubc for instance) this is not true. seismic demands in low rise building s are even more severe than tall buildings. You have to consider more ductility for lower buildings and so on. I can refer you to Bertero, Krawinkler, Miranda, as well. But a look at codes may guide you well.

Check out the International Building Code (IBC). The design spectral response acceleration factors SDS and SD1 are 2/3 of the maximum considered earthquake spectral response acceleration (See section 1615.1.3)
