Hello.
I am looking for a way to reduce the size of a file to be used in Soldiworks 2011.
The file that I need to reduce contains many complex surfaces. I have reduced the size of the file by opening the file and deleting parts or sections that I do not need to use. This process is very slow and I can not significantly reduce the file size. Any of you could help me with this problem?
I will appreciate any advice.
Thank you.

Are you trying to reduce the file size to send it somewhere? If so you can suppress all of the features, send it, then unsuppress them on the other end. As far as file size reduction in general it is going to be hard for us to help without the model.

Using the Save as function to create a new part often reduces the file size ... but only temporarily.

Saving as a parasolid and re-opeing can also reduce file size, but at the expense of the history.

Or simply roll up the feature tree by dragging the bar at the bottom of the browser to the top of the browser hidding all features in the graphics window. At the other end they simply drag it back down. (the highlight/dark pixalation triangles is what makes the file size large. helix curves and curvy faces compound this issue)

Speedpak is another way if you don't need to keep feature history.

Depending on the situation, high image quality can also have an effect on file size.

I think HMVC has left the building.
Didn't even answer the first question by CBL.
