how to get into field

I have 3 year experience in noise testing with the Aachen Head but now i would like to get into vibration testing. I have a strong theoretical background in vibration but have not used any of the equipment so far so whenever i interview i am told that i do not have enough experience. so how to get into field

What a great piece of gear. We have 3 Heads. Do you do the analysis as well, or just the recordings?

The reason I ask is that the Head makes it very easy to get good recordings, since it is pretty much set up, as it leaves the factory, to do one job only. Vibration measuring involves a lot of knob twiddling, which could be one of the problems. The Head is the first piece of gear we teach our mechanics to use, it gets them used to making good recordings and keeping good records, without having to worry about the nitty-gritty of getting good signals.

If you get a job with an automotive noise and vibration group then your expertise with the Head will be useful to them, and I can't believe that they would refuse to let you also get involved in vibration testing. Frankly I'm surprised that any company that uses Heads doesn't also do vibration testing, in the first place.

Your other option would be to do a 3 day course on vibration testing (say from B&K) or condition monitoring.
