Dear Board members,

On a cilinder part i need a external thread of 1x16TPI

I need info to fill in the Holes.TXT file in solid edge program.

A sample (in a different size)

.0600;.0465;.0447;#0-80 UNF

For the 1x16TPI i need the:

Nominal diameter
Internal minor diameter
External minor diameter
Tread type

As i am a European,i am not familiar with theys measurements

Thanks Anthony

Hi,

I have only these data at hand that does match:

16-UN: Unified Thread Series

Description Nominal Drill TPI Pitch
1" - 16-UN 1,000 0.937 16 1,587

Seems to be a special thread ...

Internal minor diameter = 0.937" ?
External minor diameter = ....." ?
Tread type 1x16 TPI ?

External minor ? , i need they's to fill in the Holes.TEXT file

Have you tried looking up the information in Machinery's Handbook?

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."

Hi Ben,

Living in Amsterdam and dont have excess to the Machinery's Handbook.

Can i find it online somewhere ?

thanks ,

Anthony

Hi,
if you do not have a need for these dimensions otherwise
just put in

Internal minor diameter = 0.937
External minor diameter = 0.937

Or in Holes.TXT

1.0000; 0.937; 0.937; 1-16 UN

SE will work with that, I've just done it myself with
2 BA threads for which I could not get the dimensions
You may correct them later on.

Hi,

I made a mistake in my first posting:

the pitch is 0.0625 I forgot to convert it from mm to
inches

The corediameter is approx. D - 1.2226 * pitch (UNF/UNC)
so 0.937 can be used as a ballpark figure with UN

altnickee,

Have a look at this link - it shows the thread form of UN threads.
There is a series of UN threads called 'Constant Pitch', of which 16 tpi is one of the series.
Constant Pitch Series
The UN series provides a comprehensive range of diameter pitch combinations where the Coarse, Fine, and Extra-Fine series do not satisfy the requirement of the design. They are available with 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 20, 28 and 32 threads per inch.
