Hello,

I'm looking to build a small (handheld) "blackbox" that will allow me to transform single-phase 120 VAC (60 Hz) to Three-phase 120 VAC with 120-deg phase separate between the three phases. I'm envisioning a blackbox that can simply plug in to a typical 15-amp US receptacle, with the load being no more than, say, 9 amps (3 amps per phase) at 120 VAC.

What I'm trying to find out is if someone has built something like this before, and if so, is there a basic schematic that you can share for a high-level view of this? It should be relatively simply in design, but didn't want to reinvent the wheel if someone has already done this. Also, if this hasn't been done by someone, it would be great if someone could reply with a high-level idea of what they believe would be needed to build this.

Thanks in advance for your assistance with this! :)
