I'm working on a Solid Edge v20 and having performance issues with it. We have all of our drawings on our server, we work off of our server and our SE license is a server license. We are trying to correct our performance issues, so we are looking at our graphics cards. I'm looking for a list of graphics cards that work well with SE, or some recomendations for one.

Thanks

Forgot to say that I needed to install the 3DxWare driver because of SE ST

I'm working on SE ST2 MP2

I use a SpaceExplorer.
Release version 3.8.3
(Driver Version 9.8.1)
Firmware version 4.04
The only problem I have with this is getting Solid Edge (or is it SpaceExplorer?) to remember button mappings.
I have one button set to Activate, another to Pick Rotation Centre, but they never seem to hold the configuration.
Do you get the same problem with a SpacePilot?

Where would we be without sat-nav?

beachcomber,

My computer is runnning XP Pro SP3
Pentium 4 3.20 GHz, 2 GB RAM

@ beachcomber

I have a SpacePilot, I've configured the left button for the ESC key, and right one for "Fit view". The left button is fine, but the right one kept losing its configuration. It was so frustrating I've given up resetting the button each time (and basically using it).

jlb,
I would definitely look into adding more RAM.
Bump it up to 3GB at least. Any more probably wouldn't make any difference with 32bit XP.
It might be that the whole system is now a bit light on power, especially if you have more than one application open. Was it like this with previous versions of SE?

Gemnoc,
That's similar to what is happening to me. I set and save the button configuration but when I start SE again it's either lost the config or they just don't work as intended.

This has been an issue in previous versions also, and I usually have at least 3 other programs open. E-mail, manufacturing system, and a music program. (itunes or Media Player)

I used to have some mapping problems but it seems to be resolved with the driver I'm using because I don't remember the last time I had to remap the buttons.

You guys realize the buttons need to mapped for each different mode, right? I.E. Sketch, part, assembly, explode, draft, etc etc. I wish you could map them globally, but no luck :(

Regarding speed, open Windows Task Manager and leave it running while you move an assembly around. Watch your ram and processor usage. I just checked on my work machine... ram usage was minimal <1G, while 1 core of my processor would peg at 100% as soon as I started rotating a part. To me this suggests that with a speed hang up while rotating (on this machine anyway) the processor itself is the weakest link.

Of course. For me, it's not always the same environment that loses the button setting.

It's usually that the buttons just don't work as mapped.
I've created new configs for the mapping and deleted old ones - in assembly especially - but when I open assemblies the mapping is there but the buttons don't work as mapped.
Occasionally it will just lose them and give me some other command.
