Hi, I have recently started working as a molding technician in a rubber molding factory. My function is to control the molding parameters to effectively correct any defect that might occur during the process. The company operates with machinery that has been in service for 30+ years and the engineering team is primarily composed of personnel with plastic injection experience, so there is little technical knowledge about rubber and a lot of situations arise, which we are never really sure to how to tackle. Since I a have a degree in aeronautical engineering, I have next to zero experience with rubber. I am seeking advice on the following subjects:
[ul]
[li]Where can I find technical/ practical knowledge about rubber molding ? I have read a few books, but they are either really basic introductions or very specific manuals about potential cost reduction programs and DOE applications[/li]
[li]Can you illustrate how to apply a DOE technique that is cost effective?[/li]
[li]Are there "go to" useful tools for rubber molding processes?[/li]
[/ul]
Additionally I have read about some of you saying that you manage to keep the scrap produced during operation below the .5%, right now ours is at about 5%, could you please share with me your experience with scrap and how to prevent it?
I'm going on a limb here, but I have run out of options and each day I feel more stranded.
Thanks in advance, hope you can help me.
