gear tooth geometry-creating

hi, I need to sketch a gear tooth profile in Pro/E in order to have a mold made. I have the tooth thickness and a pressure angle of 20. I don't know where to go from here as I don't have enough geometry information. I think I need to know the top land thickness, but can't seem to find a formula. The gears I am modeling are 1: external, 64 DP, .5 Pd, 20' p ang, and 2: internal, 64DP, 1.5Pd, 20' p ang. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

We have had this same problem.

The only book that has this information (as far as I have found): Technical Drawing; 10th edition; by Prentice Hall Books; authored by Giesecke and about 7 others. The information you are needing is something called Wellman's Involute Odontograph. This book has a table that I believe will be most helpful.

buy a specification for gear design which will supply all the formulas you require to generate a gear tooth profile. ptc's way of producing a gear is cumbersome and inaccurate.
