Flitch Plate/Beam Design 1

I have designed flitch beams for residential construction for 10 years, but have not located any useful references specifically related to this subject matter. Should anyone know of good design literature on this subject, such information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. John

"Flitch Plate and Steel I-Beams" is a manual by National Association of Home Builders, 15th and m Streets, NW, Washington D.C. 20005. Also, article in Civil Engineering magazine, September 1989.

I do not design a lot of flitch beams but recently designed one using Superbeam 4 software and a hand check of the results.
A building control officer, who will remain nameless, is insisting that "in his experience" the plate I have used is not thick enough but he refuses to back this up with any calculation.
Did you find any good literature following your previous query? If so I could do with a copy to appease aforementioned annoying b.c. officer!
