Hi All,

I am not sure where to post this question, so I hope someone will direct me to the appropriate forum.

I am looking for a foam material to put in an enclosure approximately 1" - 1.38" deep to hold dummy under water connectors while not in use. The foam has to be rigid/firm to grip on the connector so not to allow the connectors to fall out upside down. The foam material should be tear and moisture resistant. The next question is how would cut this foam out to the shape of the connectors with finger grooves to allow access to get at the connectors.

Thanks for any advise you can provide

Google for "minicell" or possibley "mini cell".

Cut with hot wire.

One of my friends runs a business using a 2 1/2d milling table to cut craftwood and foam to profiles. He makes inserts for tool trays and things like that. It can handle anything up to 8 by 4, and will cut aluminium.

EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) foam is flexible and would probably serve you well. It can be milled or hotwired.

Consider EPS...extruded polystyrene. Can be obtained in various strengths, densities, and properties.

Polyurethane foam properties can be adjusted by varying the amount of water in the polyol - isocyanate reaction when making the foam. This foam presents health hazards when being produced so don't do this at home unless you have a lab hood.
