I am interfacing a 1747KE card to a US Robotics external 56k fax modem. Does any one have experience with such a remote communications link. If so, could you provide me with a little insight? The com cable between the ke card and modem is wired for hardware hand shaking. After speaking to AB tech support, they suggest I wire the com cable for non hand shaking. I also opted for the back plane configuration method of configuring the ke card. Using my PC, I was able to connect to the modem. However I could not get past the modem. It just occured to me to check my computer's com 3 port to verify that the com port settings in RSLinx Pro match that of the computer's com 3. I remember now that I did'nt verify that today. I'll give it a try tomorrow. One more thing I need to inform you of is the fact that the ke card when powered lit the proper LEDS. The ACT, AND DH485 LEDS lit steadily. After attempting to communicate to the modem, the DF1 LED blinked as it should.

Any help will be most appreciated.

finally after 3 days of experiementing with the USRobotics modem,I have managed to convince the powers that be, to use the Allen Bradley modem part no. 9300RADKIT. The kit includes a cable to connect the SLC processor and modem, a cable to connect a micrologix plc and modem, various serial adapters, and an AC adapter. Today I was successful at communicating to the processor via the modem and KE card. If any one is interested in hearing how this was done send a reply and I will be happy to provide the details.
