Excel & Project Scheduling

Just a quickie....has anyone used or developed a down & dirty Excel project scheduling spreadsheet? One that would generate a Gannt chart? Certainly not with all the features of MS Project or Primavera, but something useful?

One issue you run into with Excel, especially if your projects are long duration, is the column limitation. An Excel sheet is currently limited to 256 columns (about 8.5 months), although this is slated to be increased to several thousand columns in the next release of Office.

To not actually answer the original question,

... If you JUST want to produce a Gantt chart, a program called Fast Track Schedule might be helpful.

Like a lot of other Mac- rooted applications, it's completely hollow.

By which I mean, it produces a great looking printout, but _you_ do all the work. It's a tool for _presenting_ a schedule, but it's of no help whatsoever in _generating_ one.

Okay, that was my impression of version 7. It's up to version 8 or 9; maybe it's less feeble now.
