Error when I change the property of a dimension controlled by a DT 1

I have a model which is controlled entirely by a design table. Whenever I click on that dimension, I get this obnoxious error:

"You attempted to change a field that is currently locked by a design table. Changes to this field are not permitted unless you unlock the corresponding cell in the design table and/or remove any existing formulas in the cell"

This occurs even when I just try to see dimension properties like whether it is driven or not. Has anyone else encountered this or know of a way to turn those error messages off. I know darn well the dimension is controlled by a DT and just want to check the dimensional properties or move the dimension leader off of the part so I can better see the part.

Thanks!

Oh and I'm running SWx 2008. This error is new since we switched over from 2007.

Either change the DT properties to allow editing, or edit the design table to change your part.

Tick,

I tried editing the DT properties and it didn't help. The error occurs when I'm just trying to move the dimension leader, not actually change the dimension, so unfortunately it isn't going to solve the problem.

Sounds like a corrupt part.

Delete the DT if you don't need it.

If you need the DT, open it in Excel ("Edit Table in New Window") and save a copy. Then delete the DT and create a new one using "from file" option in DT creation menu.

If it's a corrupt part, then all my parts are corrupt. I'm pretty sure it's some sort of system problem.

Right Click on Design Table -> Edit Feature -> In Edit Controls select Allow model edits to update design table.
This will solve the problem but even by mistake if you change a dimension the same will get updated in the design table.

This is not new to SW 2008. The same case prevails from previous versions. I have been using from versions SW 2000 and design table frequently from SW 2003.

I forgot to mention one more thing.
Right Click on Design Table -> Edit Feature -> In options remove tick from Warn when updating design table
Else you will get a warning stating changing this dimension will update values in design table

rkam,

I've tried that and it doesn't fix the problem. I think it might be related to the design table, because every dimension is an equation. When I make a simple extruded rectangle and have every dimension controlled by an equation within the DT, I get the error, but when I do not have every dimension controlled by an equation, I don't get the error.

Doesn't make sense to me why this is the case, but equations in the DT seem to be the culprit.

One more information

If the dimension is controlled using a formula in excel then the warning persits irrespective of what options you select
That's last info :)

I'm starting to suspect a corrupt installation. Are there any other seats where you can test your files?

We can call it a limitation.
If you have controlled dimensions from design table (direct value entry without any excel formulae only) then selcting "Allow model edits to update design table" & not selecting "Warn when updating design table" in design table edit feature is the only solution.
In case you are using a formulae for the dimension values in design table then you have to live with it.
It is not because of any corrupt installation/files.

We have the same problem. It never occurred in 2007, but is very annoying in 2008.

Our whole design is controlled via a design table which controls a skeleton sketch. The deign table has many formulas in it. Any time you so much as touch a dimension, even to move it, up comes the annoying message with no way to turn it off.
