I have an excel spreadsheet with a hyperlink to a folder on our server, when I click it the folder opens.

I have copied this cell and pasted it in another location the new cell does not have a hyperlink. The text looks the same but no hand appears as I hover the mouse, the folder does not open when I click.

How can I copy hyperlinks?

Hi bpierson:

I am not sure what the problem might be. But let us try this ... click in the cell at the location where you have copied the hyperlink, press F2 and then ENTER and see if the hyperlink works now.

Yes that works.

I found out why the pasted link didn't work, I can now paste the link successfully.

Originally I had selected the cell with the link and then selected a large range of cells which included the copied cell. If I paste over the copied cell the link does not work, as long as I paste in other cells the pasted link works properly.

I don't know why, that's just the way it works.

Hi bpierson:

The main thing is that you got it working ... and you also sorted out why it didn't work before ... Good Job!
