device for showing vibration 1

I am trying to examine the effects of longitudinally oriented, ultrasonic vibrations on a thin wire. More specifically, I am looking for a device which will reveal the location of both the longitudinal and transverse nodes and anti-nodes along the length of the wire.

Is there a strobe device fast enough to show this to me? What are my other options?

What is the wire diameter and length, how it is held at the ends, and what is the material....you might be able to find the nodes by FEM....provide the above data and we will look at.

Great - Thanks!

The device actually has a wire screwed into a longitudinal ultrasonic driver via a coupling horn. The wire is machined to have decreasing diameters which decrease as you approach the distal end of the wire which is free. The diameters step down from about a fifth of an inch to about one fiftieth. The entire wire is about a foot long. I can't really disclose anymore information.
