Hi, how would i go about achieving this result?
please see attached image, but basically i wnat to as if you were to place a dent in an object.

im not really sure how to explain it or if the image helps but, its as if your working with clay and you press your finger into it, it would subtract mass from where you pressed it but it would then add some behind where you press.

Cheers

Hi beebo, thanks for the reply!
is there any tool like this in the part enviroment?

Model the solid lump and then thin wall it may be an option. Obviously in reality the material stretches slightly and becomes thinner, I don't think either approach simulates that.

KENAT,

Have you reminded yourself of faq731-376 recently, or taken a look at posting policies: What is Engineering anyway: faq1088-1484

no there is. But for this part which is only a plate start
in SheetMetal environment. In case you need a function
that is only available in part: switch to part (there is a
function for it), create the feature and then switch back.
This might however, prevent flattening of the part

Hi Don, it was just a hypothetical that it was a plane, i would like to know how to do this on a curved plane?

cheers

The best I've come up with is the solid lump & thin wall as mentioned above.

For a crease on a fold or similar open ended feature you may be able to use cut instead of thin wall but same principle.

Model exterior shape by adding material.

Remove material to model interior.

if it is complicated use surfaces.
