Deleting unused custom format in excel

Can anyone advise me how to delete unused custom cell format. As you may aware, there is a limitation in the number of custom cell formats or I can not create more somehow. Any quick response appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Can't you go to format|cells|number, then pick "custom," then pick the custom format you want to delete, then click "delete" (on the left side of the box, above where it says "type the number format code, using..."

 

Thank you for your response. I tried what you suggested before, it did not work. I tried again for all the custom formats, it works for some of them. Probably, I was assuming that the custom format that I was trying to delete was not used by the spreadsheet. Thanks again.
