Cotton Filled Estrusion 1

I've been looking into wood extrusion and wondered if instead of a wood filler a cotton based filler has ever been tried.
I work in bearing cage manufacturing process
and at the moment we used rolled phenolic cotton tubes. An extruded tube/rod would help reduce the cost's

would the fiber orientation lead to pre-mature breakdown in an extruded vs rolled tube?
