Continuous sheet thickness measurement

I want to install a gage that measures sheet thickness to 0.001" accuracy at the exit of my pultrusion die. I have looked into lasers but feel like there is a cheaper route to go with some type of spring loaded roller wheels with transducers. Problem is I cannot find anything of this nature, anyone ever hear of such a thing or have ideas about who to contact?
