Hi, i'm new to the use of patran and marc for contact problems.

I'd like to know what kind of errors are listed in the file in the attachment.

They are like "duplicat Element Id exists".
They came out after i've load the .dat file by patran.

Is there anyone who has a GOOD contact tutorial or exercises?

Thanks

Hi,

I am not sure if that caused your problem actually. But anyway, just make sure that all your elements (CQUAD, BAR, BEAM, ROD, MPC, etc.) have different ID number. Use the renumber tool in Patran in order to do that. Some might work with the same ID number but some doesn't. So just make sure that all ID number are different.

You could also attach your .bdf file, it might be easier to see possible errors.

Do the same thing for nodes as there seem do be duplicate nodes as well. Then retry to launch your analysis and see if at least those errors are gone.

Then, if it still doesn't work, we could look at what might be causing the problem.

Hi, i attached the db f06 and bdf file...
It's a simple implicit nonlinear sol 600 example...It says that the BCbody string is incorrect, but can't understand why (the .bdf was created by patran 2008 and run on nastran 2007)

Thanks

Now it gets more complicated. I am no expert with SOL600 especially when it comes to surface contact. (The experience I had was with Solid 3D models) You might want to go on MSC forum where MSC specialists could probably answer more adequatly to your question.

To me, it seems that the nastran card are not written correctly. What is exactly the problem, unfortunately, I can't tell.

Good luck.
