Hi, I bought a copy of NT4 off ebay.

It transpires that it is the Compaq version.

It has no setup file on the CD, but appears to require the Compaq Restore CD.

Anyone know of a way around this or should I just throw it in the bin?

(It only cost $6, so I'm not out much...)

Sorry, but believe it's a good candidate for the trash can.
Restoration CDs are customized to find the hardware it came with. If they cannot find it, the installation will not go through.
Yes, if you can find the configuration files, and change them to your particular hardware it might work, but will be a tough job. It may be fun and instructing but being NT 4.0 a bit old, may not worth it.

Thanks for that ragudelo.

I had a feeling it was a lost cause!

I shall be more careful in future.
