Our plans show embed plates on top of a CMU wall for steel joists to bear on. The contractor grossly mislocated the embeds. To make matters worse, I've gone through the original engineer's calculations, and they used an incorrect wall tributary weight to each embed, so they were slightly undersized to begin with. Any ideas how to get 10.3 kips (strength level) of wall seismic anchorage force out of a 12" CMU wall? I was hoping to use adhesive anchors and new bearing plates with holes, but the shear strength of SET-XP adhesive anchors in the top of a wall given in the UES evaluation report appears to be abysmal.
