CENELEC COLOR FOR 3 WIRE INSTRUMENTS

Does anyone know what the different colors of a 3 wire instrument circuit? I have a reqmnt to use Black, Lt Blue, Brown. Which is the (+), (-)/rtn, and the Signal?

No standard for those that I know of. We get instruments with a really wide range of color for leads. The only common thing is black to (-) but that's not always true either.

Best to get the manufacturer's literature and look it up!

Did you stick the manufacturer and model number in Google? It often is quite a bit helpful to do so...
 
I'm not sure if it's a true standard, but the CAT German engines (Mak) all theire three wire instruments have the smae colors and they are,

Light blue = battery positive
Brown = battery negative
Black = signal

Caused a good bit of head scratching when they showed up here in the USA.
