I am working on a through arch bridge (3 arch ribs, span 435ft +/-) and we are supporting the bridge deck from the arch utilizing bridge rope or wire rope.

I have a few questions:
- Are there more manufactures just than Williamsport Wire Rope?

- Is there anyone that knows or knows where I can find any current literature about the strength and fatigue characteristics and properties of wire rope. Additionally, is fatigue typically considered in cable supported structures like this, and if so, how?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Florida Cable or Florida Wire Rope seems to pop in my mind. I will have to find a more exhaustive list for you on Monday.

bailey,

The following is a resource that I have found helpful:

Wire Rope Corporation of America
609 North 2nd Street
St Joseph, Missouri 64501
voice: 816/233-0287
facsimile: 816/236-5000
email: wireco@wrca.com

They publish the "Wire Rope Users Manual" among other manuals that may be of use. Most are less than a saw-buck.

Hope this helps,
RLJ ;-)

Qshake:

I was wondering if you have had the chance to find your information about wire rope and sockets, and any design literature that you may have. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Bailey,

WIRECO is helpful and another source I've used in Marcal Wire Rope - you can look them up on the internet and request a catalog. The catalog is huge, chock filled with information. Also check out:
Good Luck
