ASME B16.5 Blind flange with offset connection.

Hi,
Should a ASME B16.5 blind flange with an offset connection fitted, be considered as a modified flange and calculated in accordance with UG-34 or can it still be classed as a standard component per UG-11(2) if the connection does not exceed the size limits of UG-36(c)(3).

As soon as you make the blind non-B16.5 compliant with the offset connection (I presume that implies a hole through the blind, not some metal temperature instrument etc) you have left UG-11(a)(2). As you note, now you're into UG-34 to determine the thickness of the blind flange and UG-36 and UG-39 for the opening reinforcement issues. For simplicity, consider a centered hole within the limits of B16.5 2003 Table F6.
