I am running SW2005 and the option to click on the tip of my dimension arrows and flip the arrows to outside/inside is gone? Any suggestions?

Sometimes simply closing SW and re-starting it fixes little problems like this.

Can you drag the tip across the plane? You should be able to click and hold the mouse button and drag it to your desired length...including changing its direction.

Yah, I tried that several times. I have searched through the Tools/Options also and can't find an option to disable that option.

Yes, I can drag the actual dimension to wherever I want but I cannot flip the dimension. When you select the dimension it usually turns green with little dots on the tips of the arrows and when you click those dots it will flip your arrows to inside/outside. Those dots are completely gone. I am just hoping I don't need to reload the program completely.

Click once on the dimension. Look at the property manager to the left, scroll down to the "Arrow" box, click the first button that shows the arrows on the outside..Tis changed from '04 to '05

This is what you want right? Odd, thought someone would have had this one quickly..did everyone skip over SW05? :)

I saw that. You should be able to click on the dimension once though and see little dots on the end of the arrows. If you click on the dot, it flips the arrows too and that is what quit working for me.

rjmax ... I am running SW05 & am able to flip the arrows via the dots.

Under Tools > Options > Document Properties > Detailing/Dimensions is the Smart option in the Arrows section checked?

When did this condition start?
Have you made changes to your machine recently? (updated drivers, added software, changed any settings, etc).

ParaCAD,

Guess we were trying everything EXCEPT the obvious...I've always been accused of missing things that were right under my nose...

I was also trying to control it in the drawing area...that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

In the Tools > Options > Document Properties > Detailing/Dimensions the smart option IS selected.

This just started a couple of days ago. At that time I was playing with one of those 3 dimensional rotating devices that you can install. Solidworks recognized it and it seemed to work alright but now I have this problem. In addition to all this, I cannot drag the dimensions leader lines. I think I am at the point of doing a reinstall. I tried the "Repair" option already and it didn't seem to resolve the problem.

I had one engineer with the same problem. The only fix for him was to install a new v card. I don't know if the correct fix for you.

What is the "3 dimensional rotating device" you mention? Does it have any 'Gaming' options? If it does try disabling them.

Do you have the latest driver for the device.

Try uninstalling the device driver before re-installing SW.

It is a logitech space mouse. I uninstalled everything and I still have the same problem.

Have you tried a System Restore to a point before installing the space mouse?

I had that problem once (sw 2005 sp1.1) and the fix at the time was - System Options -> Display/Selection -> make sure "Dynamic Highlight from Graphics View" is checked.

Well, I fixed it the hard way. I uninstalled everything including deleting the things in the registry, deleting the directories for Solidworks and then I went back and reinstalled everything. Now, I have to go setup all custom things but at least the problem is fixed. Thanks everyone for your suggestions and help.
