Hello-

I am a QC Manager and Welding Engineer for a Tank shop. Although most of my experience is with ASME VIII, we've been building 12F tanks for several months. Our customer recently requested that we start using the API Monogram. This require API certification.

I have the applications and I'm looking for a sample QC Manual for API 12F. I dont want to write a manual that would slow down the certification process. It would be nice to have a reference that has been approved. Is there anyone out there that could help me out with this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You don't need a QC Manual for API 12F Tanks. It's a "cook book" standard. Just follow the directions, stir and hope that the tank doesn't fail.

There is a question today about the future of a standard such as this that doesn't require (just suggests)qualified welders & welding procedures.

Best to stick with a standard (like API 650)that compels you to calculate for thicknesses, wind overturning and uplift due to internal pressure (& a requirement for QC manuals by tank vendors).
