Hi guys,

I have an issue when cutting splinees & i hope someone with an Amada has resolved this issue and willing to help out.

Control is Fanuc 160i-L
When cutting of splines or contours with lots of directional changes the axis stops (almost) at every line before starting the next line (this of course is happeing very quickly but it can be seen by the head shuddering when cutting a spline).

It's a real pain when cutting above 2000mm a min as it promotes burrs & limits the cutting feedrate to much less than commanded.

I have tried the G05 look ahead but doesn't make a difference.

G08 is no go as the control doesn't come with a RISC board.

I have turned off the edge data.

The control in not in exact stop mode.

Any one seen this before?

Cheers

If the segments or arcs are very small, you may be able to "smooth" the contour with your offline programming software.
If you post your DXF file, I can try to smooth it out for you.

Hi Foostrap,

Thanks for the offer, I have been filtering as well but the jerking still occurs at the directional changes.

I was hoping is just a parameter in the control, like a "within tolerance" paramater.

Does anyone know if the trumpfs, Bystronics have the same prob?

Cheers

As far as I know just about every Bystronic ever made has had these features. Bystronic used the cnc they developed for their glass cutting systems on their lasers. Way overbuilt and lots of options to control cutting dynamics. You can control dwell, critical angle. chordal deviation and more depending on the machine right at the console.
