AFBMA suffixes - defined by which standard? 1

I have some informal documents that describe AFBMA suffixes but they are not complete. Is there an AFBMA standard that defines these.

For example I am particularly interested in 30BC02XPP30A26.

I know what 30BC02 is. X tells me it is not a steel cage (would be J), but what kind of cage is it?. PP3 I understand (double-shielded, C3 clearance). What about the trailing letters 0A26 - what does that mean?

Is there an AFBMA standard that defines these suffixes?

Do you know which company made this bearing.
It may be only the customer's suffix has
been added to the AFBMA numbering system to
further differentiate the parts that they
are selling like possibly the axial clearance.
I saw this same question on another forum.

Thanks. The number is on a Reliance motor nameplate but I haven't looked at the bearing and don't know bearing manufacturer.

It is probably coincidental that
the grease fitting in the Reliance
PSL design is an "A" and may not
be part of the suffix number.

It may just be an oil type designation
that the customer installed in the
bearing. I saw where one used o for
oil and g for grease. Again you will
have to determine which customer made
the bearing as it is probably that
customer's suffix numbers. The numbers
after the o or g defined the specific
oil or grease by type and customer in
a table provided by the bearing
manufacturer's catalogue.

30BC02XPP30A26

The 'X' is a separator. 30BC02 is the basic part number and the PP30A26 is the suffix.

'PP' = double shields
'30' = C3 clearance
'A' = snap ring groove opposite to filling notch
'26' = ABEC 3 or P6 internal tolerance

You need an SKF 6206-2Z/C3 N. Although since you only have the groove and not the snap ring, that's debatable.

SKF deep groove ball bearings of that size are P6 tolerance as a standard.

ANSI or ABMA standard # 20.

Thx jm. I have AFBMA 20 (1996 version).

I see it has a lot of info but I don't see part number specifically addresssed. Can you cite a specific part that addresses the positions of the AFBMA identification number, particularly for tolerance and snap ring groove.

Do not think AFBMA addresses snap ring
grooves. I think I saw it in an SAE
Standard. Do not have these standards
at home.
