Hi all,

I am trying to do a harmonic analysis in ANSYS by applying only displacement to a certain area on the model (please see the attachement). I would like to see the displacement amplification on the tip of the sonotrode. My question is:
Is it valid to define just one boundary condition on the specified area (+- 5e10-6)? Should I be constraining my model by any other means? The reason why I ask this is I ve made a search and could not see any example likely.

Thanks

Any analysis you perform should represent reality. How is the sonotrode held in the actual device?

Hi,

it is held with a bolt in the red area. In order to simplify the model we did not model it, you can think the exciter is glued to the red area and makes +- 5e10-6 movement in 60000 hz. The rest of the body has no constraints and it moves freely.

Thanks
