Hi,
I have Abaqus installed on my PC and I connect to my department for the license. I am able to connect to the license server and the CAE comes up. I can access all the modules but when I try running a job it just stops there and doesn't do anything. It also doesn't recognize any commandline commands. Would appreciate any help.

thanks

Check the log file. Also try writing the inp file and closing CAE, the run the inp file by the usual abaqus job= in the command window. Perhaps you ran out of licences.

Have you tried the instalation verification procedure ?
i.e. ">abaqus verify -all "
Actually for details, this command is described in Appendix E of "Installation and Licensing Guide".

thanks for your posts but if it doesn't recognize abaqus command in the command line.

where do I use ">abaqus verify -all "??

it doesn't recognize it in the commandline.

This problem has occured after the Norton Antivirus deteced win32.Pinfi virus on my computer, which infects .exe files. It had infected ABAQUS and many other files and after NAV repaired the .exe file this problem has occured. Reinstalling ABAQUS didn't help. Could it be somehow related to some problem with python?

thanks

You can run a job in CAE and thus avoid using the command line. I presume that you have started CAE some other way than typing abq651 cae in the command line.

Before reinstalling are you sure you did a clean uninstalling? Abaqus has lots of registry entries.

Anyhow I did some tests, namely to see which executables are launched when starting the abaqus command prompt:
these are:
C:\ABAQUS\6.4-1\exec\abq641.exe (or abq651.exe) ( version might be different in you case)
and python.exe.

Additionaly the abq641.exe can launched by a .bat file (abq641.bat) which happens to be all over the registry.

Anyhow, I did not perform any Abaqus reinstallations, but I confronted similar problem with other softwares. After running the uninstallation .exe file I did manually remove any registry entry associated with that software and I erased each file or folder undeleted by the uninstaller.

There's also an installation .log file, describing how well the installation went, have you checked that ??
(It should be in "\ABAQUS\6.4-1\installation_info")

Hi,

It looks to me that the command path is not included in your PC's system environment. Please right click on your "my computer" icon", go to "advanced" tab, and then "environment variables". Then, check if abaqus path is included in your "path" variable.
