1946 ASME Sect 8

In 1944 the material design factor changed from 5:1 to 4:1 does anyone know when it changed back to 5:1 before permanently being changed in 1951 to 4:1. I have a U1 from 1947 vessel that calculates out with a factor of 4:1 but the 1946 code has a 5:1 design factor. if anyone has any info let me know. PS. I have contacted ASME and the sec8 engineer let me know that ASME does not have any code cases prior to the early 1970's. one of the code cases in question is CC986 from 1942.

My first Chief Inspector when I went to work got HSB in the 1970's informed Me of an interesting fact. That during WWII the factor was lowered to save material, and that Boilers stamped during this period also had "NE" for National Emergency. These items were to be destroyed at the end of the war. I'm not sure if it was true but sounds logical.

Another triva item: Has anyone else ever seen a "NPP" stamp. ASME issued a few of them in the late 60's early 70's.
