I would like to measure flow by means of the dP over an Elbow. The 36" steel pipeline is used for cooling water. Temperature is around 30 deg c . I would like to have a formula which gives the dP as function of the flow. The max flow speed is approx 2 m/s
Thanks.
note it is a long radius elbow
Thans Danw2, I have contacted the authors and been helped very kindly. I have put the figures in a spreadsheet; the deviation is between 11 and 15% for orifices between 2 and 10".
Thanks all for your help.
I have used about 5 years back a coriolis based mass flow controller brand 'bronkhorst' it was working fine.
last year I bought some dosing pumps, giving a certain quantity per stroke, these where expansive and bad functioning.

Indeed, the fact is we all know how to install to stamp and mark orifices, At this moment we have several pieces installed wrongly. They have to sit there the next 2 years, what I have to find out is how much deviation we have an if it is lineair over the range. At this moment I expect -20%...
Thanks a lot!
I try the formula %DQ = -18.93 + 12.91b - 34.04 (E/Dnom) – 8.900 (e/E) + 13.64 (e/E)2 but it leads to crazy figures. (Morrow and George have proposed the following correlation for a backwards-facing orifice plate to estimate the percentage measurement error as a function of the...
Unfortunetaly several square edge orifice plates are installed reverse. (upstream / downstream), so the sharp edge is upstream. What is the effect we can expect, less delta P? What kind of extra unaccuracy we can expect?
I have checked the Shell flowmeter handbook, but I can not find anything...
I am always using globe valves in gas or in flashing service: you have the possibility to slightly increase the pressure. If you do not have a large pressure drop a gate or ball valve are suitable.
I have to built on multiple detectors on a rotary valve. These valves are so critical that owner demand multiple independend detectors to make a voting for open/close detection. I have one position transmitter (4-20 mA versus stroke). I would like to stack 2 puck type proximity sensors. Have...
I am working on projects for ship loading facilities, custody tranfer.
All systems I have seen so far has double block and bleed valves up and down stream of the meters. Most experts explain that it is in OIML, API or MID -> nobody can point it out.
the only phrase I found is regarding...
