I'm aware how resin behaves. I was wondering if there was one you could spray on in several coats, like paint, to build up a thickness. This way you wouldn't see so much running.
The reason I ask is I have seen some flat panels of purely resin which had excellent transparancy. Obviously its...
Well honestly I'm completely open to suggestions here. Polycarbonate and acrylic are options which I have come across, but Im not fixed on anything yet.
Does anyone know of resin which might be suitable to lay up (or spray) over a mould for this application. From my searching I have only found...
Hi,
Im looking for some information regarding windscreen manufacture. This is for a 1-off road vehicle (which is basically just my own project for now)
Ive also posted this question in the aeronautics forum, so I hope its ok to duplicate here.
An idea of the geometry I'm hoping to achieve is...
Hi Jack,
I havent tried this. Is there anything in the help documentation about this?
In the end I took the points from a text file and imported them as Kevin suggested. It worked well.
Id be interested in hearing how the design table metehod works.
Tim
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for that info. I actually did find this help file today in the end. I was avoiding the section called "Defining Laws using a 2D Curve" because I wanted to do it with a text file!
I have trialled the method with a basic input and it works as I want. I'm generating the text file...
Hi,
Does anyone know of a method to drive a kinematic assembly from a lookup table of values instead of with laws. I have a mechanism with 3 commands and I want to simulate about 1000 discrete points. I have the command values already in excel, and it would be a pain to have to draw out a law...
Hi,
Has anyone setup any basic filename incrementing etc using a script in V5?
I want to set something up which basically goes through the save management list and saves all mofidied documents but increments a number in the filename first.
Sort of a poor mans PDM/VPM.
I havent done any...
Ok problem solved.
There was an unresolved constraint in the sub assembly which was stopping the update in the main assy half was through.
For my convenience, Catia gave no error message at all which may have given me a clue as to what the problem is.

Unless you have some sort of structural workbench, the way I do it is as follows;
1. In one part setup 2D sketches and lines representing the centreline of the tubes
2. Sweep circles through the centrelines to get surfaces representing the OD of your pipes
3. For EACH tube, make a part body...
Hi,
I have an unusual problem in that my assembly is not doing anything when I hit the update button. I ave to manually select all the constraints and then hit update.
Additionally, in one of the sub assemblies, I can update but the update button remains lit up as though its not up to date.
I...
Hello,
I have the results of a FE analysis from MSC.Marc. The output file (.t16) is huge (8GB) and I can't open it in Marc.
I have seen its possible to import results into Patran but it doesn't seem to be able to import the .t16 files.
Does anyone know a way around this?
Tim
Hello,
I have the results from an FE-analysis which is 8GB in size.
Of course this is just crashing Marc when I try to open it.
Is there any way of dealing with such large files in Marc? Or Patran?
Im using Marc 2005
Cheers
Tim
My re-install was a full one because I did not know exactly what licences we have and didn't want to end up with the problems you described.
The funny thing is that this was never a problem before so something happened recently to cause it but I have not understood what.
Tim
So a re-install cured this problem.
Very annoying since I don't know what the problem was but anyway, now I can point, plane and line to my hearts content. Maybe even some sweeping and extracting if Im feeling in the mood.
