I don’t, but try giving them a ring. As an OEM I’ve had good luck with getting technical info and CAD models from them (with an NDA in place, naturally).
I’ve read that all automotive splines are 24/48 pitch in the driveline. Is this based on an SAE standard or a gentlemen’s agreement? If standard, what j report defines that?
Thanks for your feedback everyone!
EdStainless, I was looking at 2759-1 and it seems to only have the ultimate strength listed. I'm also looking for correlations to yield so that i know they're at least consistent with each other. You raise a really good point about not using the spec...
I am working to standardize my companies material callouts and am hoping for some guidance. Current we can arbitrarily define any heat treatment for 4340 we want (130ksi yield, 200ksi ultimate wouldn't be unprecedented on legacy drawings) and this makes it really hard for our suppliers, but...
Hi All,
I've been reading about the triple differential steering transmission and I can't seem to work out analytically how it is able to steer in it's own length. Am I missing something here? Does anyone know of a good, published, analysis I can look at?
I've attached my analysis based on...
I know balloons have been discussed frequently, but I can't seem to find an answer to my specific question. When a part is ballooned in multiple places (i.e. general view and detail views) what is the proper way to show it? Is there an ASME standard that drives this? I was always taught that...
Hi all,
I'm working on a part and am not sure if the bending stresses should be accounted for in a welded on nut plate and d if needed how that would be done.
I'm welding the attached nut plate to a box tube and a preliminary calculation shows more that adequate strength in the weld...
If that's all it is, then that's easy. Is there such thing as a Tangent Delta function? Is the foot note just wrong or something? I'm thinking I should contact the author and ask what's up.
I found an equation in a Journal article and I'm trying to write it into a spreadsheet. The problem is 1) I'm not sure what the tand functional actually is and 2) Excel doesn't seem to have it as a built in function. One of hte footnotes told me it was a Tangent Delta function, but Google...
Hello all,
I am working on a project and having a bugger of a time finding a foundry that can help me match the material properties I am currently getting in a billet part. We are using 4340 and a custom heat treat recipe to get the following properties. Is there any way that these can be...
I feel like this is a rooky question, but what spec governs the mechanical properties of sae steels? I found J404 which covers the chemistry, but not mechanical properties.
Thanks for the reply's all. I talked to my boss and we're looking at hiring it out, so I'm just writing a spec now. Thanks again.
Handleman, PM me your info and I'll try to get you on the distribution list.
