Thank Bonswa for the tie-in information.
I am working on small bore tie-in 1" to 1". Spec say socket weld.Servie is bleed gas 40 psi and 500F.
The tie in is for pressure sensor. I am asking if it is ok to cut the pipe and install a 1" SW tee and call both SW "closure weld".
Other options are...
I am looking for alternatives. what we need is only to view the model, being able to rotate and basic dimension measure.
Is there a way to view the PDS model in solidworks or inventor?
Thanks.

"We also don't take any credit for the concrete in the pressure design of the pipe, which is good, since its allowed to fissure somewhat anyway. "
Biginch, do you have some guidelines on how to specify bend radius for lined pipe?

Not sure if any speculation added, but this is what I get from ex-coworker who was at the scene:
The blast happened at pneumatic testing a 500m length 36" natural gas pipe line. The testing pressure is 15.6Mpa. When the pressure reaches 12.3Mpa, a flange at the battery limit broke from the root...
Guide may be closer to the loop so that movement will be mostly axial. If movement is large, you have to make the tie-in line to the right more flexible.
Do you have a anchor in between loops?

Appreciate your clarification on this.
DSB123 and biginch:
Do you know how can I get the limit of pipe deflecction that will prevent lining damage? RESCOCAST 17EC is the lining material. The modulus of rupture is 1500psi.Use this value as allowable bending stress to calculate the max...

We deal with large thin walled pipe with lining.
D = 60", t = 0.5" , D/t = 124, A516 Gr70 plate rolled, 30 psi,650 F, B31.3.
I want to continue this thread and ask about vacuum rings.
We do not have...
Biginch, you are right on piping testing. I thought revapm project is beyond B31.3 scope but apparently it is not. I will check the line table to see if in cat D. Otherwise I have to find a way to do testing.
i do not think wooden stakes and police crime scene ribbon are feasible. Do not know...
Thank Zapster, BigInch and pennpiper for your valuable input.
Safety is my top concern since the plant has been over 5 decades. I will ask about onsite safety training.
I am interested to know what to use to flag the line and tiein location that could last for monthes and survive weather...
I am going to do a piping walk_down for an aged petro plant. Try to get prepared but do not know where to start.
I would like to ask for procedures from you experienced guys.
All pipe are utility (steam, water and instrument air ) and instrumentation hook-up.Small quantity. Size is up to...
Hi, everyone.
I am looking for reference to Gunite (someone call it shotncrete) stiffness and density data. This is for piping stress analysis to account for stiffening effect of refractory lined pipe.
Product is 1200 F and 50 psi. Thanks.

hello, a query regarding piping material.
I need to do purchase spec for 74" and 65" lined pipe for petro-chemical plant.Pressure is at 345KPag and metal temperature is 260 degC.
My question is how to specify CS plate material.
Is there a similar ASTM spec to A53/A106 for smaller size?

MintJulep: I calculated heat load just as step 1. Lacking of downstream information, I assume condensate piping same pressure as steam. I used 75% of inlet gauge pressure as steam pressure. Is it reasonable?
