For a weld P1 - P8 plates (fillet weld & same thickness) is it mandatory to have chemical composition of test coupon in PQR?
Also, what part in Section IX says about need to list also hardness of test coupon?
Service is non-corrosive and it is a tank.

No. Chemical Composition is not required.
There is no need to have hardness per Sec. IX except HFO (QW-453).

I should add that you cannot qualify a fillet weld procedure and use it for pressure welds. It is only good for non-pressure retaining fillet welds.

As noted it is not a code requirement but strongly recommend you include the MTR with your PQR.
I do not know any Clients or Clients Representatives (myself included) who will accept a PQR without confirmation of the mechanical and chemical properties of the test coupon.

On re-reading your post are you asking if chemical composition is to be noted on the PQR or included in the PQR documentation ?

This. I've seen some PQR's where the hardness doesn't match the mentioned base material. Makes me question the entire PQR.

This is how I organize them:


If clients requires grain size / FN / hardness and yield strength for aluminium / corrosion testing / ... I include the reports in the PQR. Not mandatory, but at least all of the documentation is easily to be found.
To answer your question, No, I don't know of any codes that require chem comp as standard.

Definitely true...always include the MTR in the PQR....my comments are strictly on additional chemical testing by you.
