what is "localised" and "global" magnetic field?

i am having problem to find the meaning of "localised" and "global" term in magnetic field analysis. can anybody give me some ideas on this?

The Earth has a magnetic field that we tend to treat as a uniform and well-behaved thing. However, there are "magnetic anomalies" all over the globe, due to varying densities and types of underlying materials in the crust.
