Please share your thoughts regarding welding simulation software.

Can we use it to find out process feasibility or ascertain material characteristics, like weldability, etc.?

Does it improve product performance?

I've asked to simulate thermal distortion once, and it was fairly accurate. Costs an arm and a leg though. It is a valid way in case you cannot perform preliminary tests.
No idea about metallurgical simulations, I don't know of any...
