We use a #10 shaded glass, which in adequate per the amperage setting of the welding task. However, the welder is still brother by the arc, would wearing of shaded safety glasses in addition to the glass be of any help to the welder?

It would, however, I think it would be more bothersome than changing to a number 11 or 12 lense. Is there some reason why changing lenses is a problem?
 
Our welders use shaded safety glasses in addition to the
welding shield. They say it helps them deal with the glare
better.
