Condensation (dew), rain, sleet, snow, cleaning activities by contractors that don't know better, etc. Especially if the discharge has a vertical run where accumulated liquid can appreciably affect the opening pressure due to backpressure.

Good luck,

RJB32482,

In addition to Latexman's comments and for a reference in API RP-520 Part II, look at Figure 1, Typical Pressure Relief Valve Installation: Atmospheric (Open) Discharge. Note 2 references a weep hole.

Ok just looked in text and not in the figures. Thank you both for the excellent learning infrmation.

Please don't give me a start now. I don't want folks to think I'm begging. Thanks!

Good luck,
