is there a simple inexpensive electronic device that I can buy and put in series with an wall outlet that can produce a voltage from 0-120V by turning a dial or something simple. I'm thinking something simple like a dimmer switch, but I know those only vary voltage over a small range. Thanks for your suggestions.

Do NOT think you can vary the voltage to any induction motors..
