View Mates in Assembly

I have some assemblies that have hundreds of mates, so when I need to query a component, I will often use the "view mates" option of the right-click menu of the component in the design tree.

Unfortunately, once I've opened up the properties of one of the related mates, I lose all the other related mates upon closing the properties of the one I was last viewing.

Is there any way to return to the last screen of mates after closing the properties window?

Do you run the split window in the FM tree?

I use the split window so I can view both the FM tree and any mates I want to see per part. Pick the part in hte upper window and the Properties tab in the other window. (Upper) I can then pick what ever part and (Lower) it shows the mates for that part.

The best I can tell you on this one is to divide your feature tree into two sections (do this by draging the top edge of the feature window down), and click the properties tab. When you click on a part in the assembly, the mates will show up without having to right click. This makes it easy to return to the short list of mates that relate to a particular part.

My system isn't giving me what you guys are describing, though from the start I've expected it to.

I've always used the split panes functionality, but my mates are not showing in the second pane unless I select "view mates" from the right-click menu of a particular part in the design tree.

I seem to recall an option to the effect of storing mates with components OR in a single mategroup. I must have chosen the single mategroup at some point. That might explain why my system is not responding like yours does.

But where is that option?

Mategroups have been removed in SW01+. Mategroups caused problems in some assemblies. so as a new enhancement this year or last year mategroups have been removed.

You should be able to drag from either the top or the bottom edge to get your split window to show. Your mouse cursor will change when you go over the edge.

I think you missed my comment about always using split panes (windows), but thanks for taking the time to explain it.

MateGroups have not been removed from my installation of SW2001Plus (unless you're talking about a service pack release, which would really surprise me). I installed SW2001Plus the first day it was available for download and have been using it since then. I have a "MateGroup1" in an assembly that I just started last week.

Maybe it comes down to that "Option" I mentioned above? Could that have been a choice made in the "Custom" installation?

I meant Multiple Mategroups not all mategroups.

Assemblies created in earlier versions of SW will have all mates in mategroup1 assemblies created in SW01+ will just have mategroup (no "1&quot
It is only the name of the tree branch and doesn't seem to affect anything else.
