I saw this thread: thread725-474957 that discussed about a slotted truss support. The idea was to have a pinned support at one end and roller support (using slotted plate) at the other end of the truss. This way, the horizontal reaction in the truss support will be eliminated, thus reducing the stresses in the truss bottom chord as well as in the column supporting the truss.
Question:
1. Does anyone have a sample detail for the slotted truss support? For reference.
2. Does anyone know any reference that I could use for this kind of support?
3. What are the things one should look out for when designing a slotted support? For example, locking of the support.
4. Are there other methods in design a roller support besides the slotted plate support? Please provide a reference or a sample detail if available.
I also saw online a lot of structural designers who designs the truss with a roller support at one end but no one really showed the detailing of the truss supports. Which is why a sample detail would be very helpful.
