Issue:
Not getting anticipated results from transient dynamic analyses, though linear static ones suggest everything is set up okay.
Set-up:
- 15m simply supported beam with the same load (10,000 N) set up at each node.
- Meshed at 0.5m, so 31 nodes total
- Load cases defined for each individual load (i.e. Node 1 is the only node loaded in Load Case 1, Node 2 in Load Case 2, and so on)
- Time dependent fields set up based on "speed" of load as it "moves" across the beam (i.e. Load Case 1 applies at t=0, Load Case 2 then applies at t=1, and so on).
Analysis & Results:
- Linear static seems okay, though when animated the appear in a weird order (i.e. Load Case 1, 10-19, 2, 20-29, 3-31, 4-9)
- Implicit Nonlinear Analysis, using SOL 400, and subcases defined as time-dependent. The beam isn't affected unless it's between Time 6.51-8.53, and if you look at the displacement animation of any one of those times (i.e. Time 6.59), the beam bounces will 'bounce' in modal shape 1.
Questions:
- Am I correct in using SOL 400, or would a different solver get me the dynamic response of such a set-up?
- Is there something dumb I'm missing out on here that is throwing my model off?
- What kind of naming/numbering system is recommended so I can order things correctly?
Thanks in advance to anyone who has a look.
