My background is mechanical. I know very little about electricity or electrical drawings so I need your help.
We are developing and building a large project with both mechanical and electrical items. I am responsible for organizing the drawing package.
Here is my problem. I've created the drawing tree and top assembly drawing for the project. I am showing all of the main mechanical sub assemblies on the top assembly drawing. Each mechanical sub assembly is represented by one drawing / drawing number.
But I can't figure out a way to show "all" the wiring to be installed at the top assembly level using only one drawing number.
The wiring at the top level assembly consists of approximatelt (60) different types of electrical harnesses.
I'd like to be able to list all (60) harnesses on one document and or one drawing and show just that single drawing at the top level assembly drawing and at the top level of the drawing tree..... instead of having to list all (60) harnesses on the top level assembly drawing and at the top level of the drawing tree.
Is there a "legal" way to do this?? We are required to abide by ASME Y14.100 and all the ASME drawing standards mentioned within.
I looked at ASME Y14.24-1999 and it said that a wiring list could be used and refered me to ASME Y14.34M-1996 for an expalnation. ASME Y14.34 seems to say that a wiring list is just that a list of wires. Therefore I conclude that a wiring list is an inappropriate vehicle for listing (60) harnesses.
ASME Y14.24-1999 says Functional Block Diagrams, Interconnect Diagrams are inappropriate since they do not establish item identification.
Am I relegated to showing all (60) harnesses in the parts list of the top assembly drawing and at the top level of the the drawing tree or is there a better way????
