Hi All,

I'm looking for titanium helicoil in the 3/8-24 size. It's equivalent in SS would be MS21209F6-10. I'm looking for a vendor who currently makes this part.

Thanks all!
Angela

Helicoil is a registered trademark of Emhart Fastening Teknologies, therefore they are the only vendor who could supply this part. You should visit their Internet site:

Thanks for the response Cory. I've already talked to an Emhart representative about the titanium helicoil, but she told me they had no plan on manufacturing any in the near future. So I'm looking for a threaded insert that is made from titanium.

Why do you need this type of
material specifically? It is
an odd request. What kind
of tensile values are you using
to tighten the bolts?

Consider A286 material it is more common in the aircraft industry.

I need this material for chemical compatability with saturated brine solution and chlorine gas used for water treatment. I can either use titanium or hastalloy.

Why do you need a thread insert? Rarely are they "mandatory" items. You should be able to design a threaded joint that doesn't use one - it may require extra axial thread engagement, a thread adhesive, or many other changes, but it is possible.

Can you use a keensert
instead of a helicoil?
It may be another option.

Can you use a tapered plug of sufficient size to be drilled and tapped to the proper size from the opposite side of your part?

I have used this approach on several Titanium and alloy components where I could get to the backside.
